Business and leisure go hand in hand in Prague´s hotels
From international chains to local brands, the Czech capital has something for every occasion.
Mandarin Oriental in Prague: city centre retreat
This former monastery of the fourteenth century was transformed into a hotel that combines Renaissance, Baroque and Gothic elements, all with an Asian touch, but creating a harmonious and refined look. It resembles a resort, favouring the privacy of a group intending to use this unit for events and congresses.
Mandarin is within walking distance of the best Prague has to offer, from historic attractions to restaurants. Inside the hotel, meeting rooms are light and airy with access to the private garden, which can be used for coffee breaks, lunches and receptions.
The most requested event rooms are: the Grand Ball Room, with 130 seats, 200 in cocktail; the Dominicus Hall, for 100 people standing; the Monastery Lounge that welcomes 150 people; and the Wine Cellar, perfect for private dinners with up to 22 people. The hotel's restaurant accommodates 92 guests.
There are 99 bedrooms, some of which with a terrace. The presidential suite has a unique breathtaking view of Prague's Castle.
One of the most interesting aspects of the Mandarin Oriental Prague is precisely its history. The hotel opened in 2006, after a delay in the works, because several artefacts from the time the building was as a monastery were found. 80% of these relics are now in a museum. The hotel's decor features subtle elements that result in a monastic atmosphere, making everything very interesting. Also its SPA, in the Renaissance wing, features frescoes from the 16th and 17th centuries, preserved during its renovation.
Old Royal Post: charming and central
Right next to Karlov Bridge, one of Prague's icons, in a quiet street but right in the centre of the city, there is a 14th-century building that today is an interesting apartment complex. In the eighteenth century, the royal post offices worked there. In the meantime, the building was completely renovated and in December 2015 the project started with 26 apartments. They are all different, striving for good taste and originality, seeking to honour important personalities in Czech Republic, from poets, painters, musicians, to politicians. The patio is one of the highlights of the complex, a pleasant and quiet area where you want to stay. At the Bistro you can have breakfast with 100% organic products from a farm in the Bohemian region. It is said that the best eggs Benedict are from the Old Royal Post Apartments.
Hilton Prague: a mega congress hotel
Located very close to the historical city centre, Hilton Prague is one of the leading conference and event hotels in the Czech capital. Its Congress Hall and the Grand Ballroom are the noble rooms in this unit, which receives the most diverse national and international initiatives. When Event Point visited this hotel, there was a major event for a pharmaceutical company taking place, and yet all the hotel was working with great tranquillity.
Its huge lobby can also be used for welcome drinks, receptions and award-winning galas. The architecture of the lobby allows video-mapping and other projections, as well as wall customising for the brands using the venue. The panoramic Cloud 9 bar, four times considered the best hotel bar in the Czech Republic, can be rented exclusively for groups of 250 people. And very soon, the entire meeting area will be remodelled.
This hotel's major markets are the United States, the United Kingdom and Western Europe, and the venue is also experiencing a growth in customers from emerging countries: China, India and Russia.

Adrenaline, business and comfort at AquaPalace Prague
Blinking its eye at the events sector, but clearly focused on leisure, AquaPalace has its highlight in the water park. Perhaps because it is the largest indoor park in central Europe, it receives visitors from markets such as German, Austrian and other neighbouring countries of the Czech Republic, as well as national guests. In corporate terms, the national market is the most significant, often seeking team-building actions in the water park. Combining these two segments, leisure and corporate, is a great challenge for this hotel.
Its conference centre hosts events for up to 650 people and all kinds of initiatives, from congresses to meetings, even weddings and galas. In total, there 700 sqm of exhibition area and 11 flexible rooms. There are four support restaurants and parking for 726 cars. In terms of accommodation, the hotel has 231 bedrooms and suites.

Vienna House Diplomat under renovation
In the middle of Prague's diplomatic district, the Vienna House Diplomat is a hotel that dates back to the 80s, but today it is looking to modernise itself to face the challenges of the future in a city in great boom, in terms of congresses and events. The property benefits from the proximity of public transport and is only 10 minutes walk from one of the most unforgettable places of the Czech capital: Prague Castle.
With 398 bedrooms, this unit is considered a conference hotel, with extensive experience in the market. During summer, all rooms in this hotel will be refurbished in a 1930's Great Gatsby style. The Diplomat offers 25 meeting rooms with capacity for 1260 people. The Belvedere is the largest area, and can welcome almost 500 delegates. The hotel also includes a restaurant, bar, terrace, a SPA area, parking and Wi-Fi.
Angelo: a straightforward event hotel
Angelo, in Prague's business centre and operated by Vienna House, is a flexible hotel aimed at the MI sector. The unit has five conference rooms, with natural light, and capacity for 478 people.
