Algarve confirms Swedish air connection during winter

After four years of negotiations, Turismo de Portugal and the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) have taken an air route that will connect Faro Airport to Stockholm, Sweden, throughout the winter. This operation by Scandinavian Airlines will count on two weekly flights, on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
"This is an important achievement for tourism in the Algarve, especially as regards the revitalisation of the golf product, one of the most appreciated by the Swedish market," explains Dora Coelho, Executive Director of ATA, adding: "Given that the high season for golfing in the region takes place during winter, the lack of air links to Scandinavia was a limitation to our destination and to the work of tour operators specialising in golf products, that had long asked us to create this route. The new connection will thus fill an existing gap in this market and will certainly bring a new momentum to the Algarve's tourism performance."
