ATP invests in promoting Porto abroad
Association is developping a strategy towards specific markets.
Associação de Turismo do Porto e Norte (ATP) will support, in the coming months, numerous trips for world tour operators, in order to make the destination known. These actions are part of a strategy being developped since the beginning of 2017 and that, according to the association, will continue through the next year, clearly investing in those markets that send more tourists its direction, assuming a future important role as a primordial tool in the fight against seasonality.
According to Sandra Lorenz, director of ATP's international promotion, "balancing the demand for our destination is our main goal and organising these fam trips is extremely important, particularly regarding the creation of unique networking moments between members and operators and agents from around the world." Last month, highlights were the fam trip of Turkish Airlines - Tel Aviv, attended by eight tour operators and a Turkish representative of that market; and the presence of 14 tour operators from China as part of the European Travel Commission activities for the preparation of the EU-China Tourism Year in 2018. In addition to these, and also this month, the region received eight tour operators from Poland, in partnership with Wizzair; the fam trip China / Hong Kong, in partnership with British Airways; and the fam trip of the Brazilian tour operator, MMT Gapnet, which 83 Brazilian agencies attending.
"ATP is investing heavily in diversifying demand for the destination, and for this, we have chosen this year and for the first time to participate in the ILTM Cannes 2017, an event dedicated exclusively to luxury tourism," said Sandra Lorenz .
