Portugal voted World's Leading Destination 2017 at World Travel Awards

Portugal won a total of six awards

Portugal was voted World's Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards, which took place on December 10th in Vietnam. Other nominees in the same category were Brazil, Greece, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, United States of America and Vietnam. Dubai has won this award for four consecutive years. Lisbon, Portugal's capital, was considered World's Leading City Break Destination and Madeira World's Leading Island Destination. Turismo de Portugal also won World's Leading Tourist Board.

Sintra-Monte da Lua Parks won the World's Leading Conservation Company category, while Pine Cliffs won the World's Leading Luxury Leisure Resort award.

The event was attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism of Portugal, Ana Mendes Godinho.
