IBTM World 2018 ends with positive note
Next year's edition, which will run from November 19th to 21st, already has a Premier Partner.
IBTM World, which took place last week in Barcelona, ended on a positive note. The event broke its own record for the number of pre-scheduled meetings, having registered more than 77,650 meetings between exhibitors and event organisers, whose feedback is positive, the organisation guarantees.
Another goal achieved concerns hosted buyers from 78 countries: 54% participated for the first time this year, 20% more than last year. IBTM World also received exhibitors from 150 countries.
"IBTM World was a success. We had exceptional meetings and various opportunities for Rwanda meetings, incentives, conventions and events this year," Nelly Mukazayire, from the Rwanda Convention Bureau, shared one of many examples of positive feedback. This also came from hosted buyers, as Grace Ng from Powell Consultants confirms. "I can achieve here in three days what would normally take us three months to achieve" she comments.
David Thompson, IBTM World exhibition director, was pleased with the positive feedback from the participants regarding the quality and the meetings that took place at the event. "It was great to feel the excitement in the room and hear so many positive stories from the business opportunities created at IBTM World."
IBTM World 2019 will take place from 19th to 21st November at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona. The event already has the Department of Culture & Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) as Premier Partner for this next edition.
"We have an excellent relationship with the DCT Abu Dhabi team, with whom we have worked closely for several years in the production of IBTM Arabia. I am very pleased to extend this partnership to IBTM World," Shane Hannam, portfolio director of the event, said. DCT Abu Dhabi Executive Director of Tourism, Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, said thos agreement "will allow us to develop our work in promoting Abu Dhabi as an unrivaled destination for business events."
Also at the event were the winners of the Tech Watch Award 2018, Zenus and Fieldrive. Kubify won the Tech Watch People's Choice Award and NBTC Eric Bakermans was honoured with the IBTM World Lifetime Achievement Award.
"This year's award points to a new trend in our industry. Zenus and Fieldrive are among the first companies to bring technology to events. Zenus is the software creator and Fieldrive has implemented the product. They form a strong team, developing easy recognition for the event industry. They are an example of what the IBTM World Tech Watch Award is looking for - to showcase innovation that is important to the industry development," Corbin Ball, chair of the jury, mentioned.
