TAP has announced new route to San Francisco

This is the third connection to the United States that the Portuguese airline has announced for 2019, this one beginning on June 10th.

TAP has just announced a new route to the airline's eighth North American destination. From June 10th, TAP will fly to San Francisco five days a week: on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

These flights will be operated by the new Airbus A330neo, and have scheduled departure from Lisbon at 10 o'clock, arriving at the United States West Coast at 2:40 p.m. (local time). From San Francisco, flights depart at 4:10 p.m., arriving in Lisbon at 11:25 p.m., the following day.

This San Francisco route reinforces TAP's commitment to the North American market, this being the airline's third new destination in the United States announced for 2019, along with Chicago and Washington, also starting in June.

"TAP is following its expansion plan in the United States. We know that there is still a long way to go, but we are getting closer to making this market one of the most relevant for TAP, along with Brazil," Antonoaldo Neves, TAP's CEO, said in a statement.

Ivan C. Satero, San Francisco International Airport's Director, refers they are proud that San Francisco is included in TAP's expansion plans. "We share TAP's passion for making air travel a pleasant experience and passengers in San Francisco Bay Area can now fly to Portugal and other destinations more easily and economically," he adds.

In North America, TAP is starting operations in San Francisco, Washington, Chicago, New York - JFK, New York - Newark, Boston and Miami, departing from Lisbon, and New York - Newark departing from Porto (now offering six flights a week), as well as Toronto, Canada.
