MICE Business Brazil: Embratur and Brazil's International Promotion

A temporary measure signed by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro turned Embratur into an international tourism promotion agency, already with events planned for 2020.

This initiative aims to expand Brazil's presence abroad, improve the country's business environment and reduce the cost that has most prevented foreign investment.

With an Autonomous Social Work status, Embratur will have its own budget and will be able to increase its presence on the international scene, participating in trade fairs and promoting actions in partnership with both national and foreign private partners.

. Vinci Airports has completed the first phase of Salvador Bahia Airport's improvement and expansion works. After 18 months and investments of 700 million reais (about 154 million euros), this project included expanding passenger service capacity with the construction of a new pier with six boarding bridges, including new services, as a baggage claim system, a larger shopping area, and totally free high-speed Wi-Fi. Among the infrastructure improvements, environmental works were also concluded, such as an effluent treatment plant, which allowed 100% of the water to be reused at the airport itself, a waste plant and a solar power plant. These works increased the airport's capacity from 10 to 15 million passengers per year.

. Speaking of airports, companies and executives from the world airport sector have a meeting scheduled during the 8th edition of Airport Infra Estrutura Expo, a business fair that will take place in São Paulo, on October 7th and 8th 2020. Under the theme 'Connectivity and Technology: The Evolution of the Air Transport Ecosystem', this edition will focus on new trends that have exponentially changed the journey of passengers at airports, where technologies such as the use of robotics,'beacons' and facial recognition tools, for example, stand out. . Klaus Ziller took over the management of the 503-room Hilton Sao Paulo Morumbi, which has recently been renovated to remain one of the most traditional corporate venues. For the fourth consecutive year, it has been nominated for a Michelin Guide. It offers an award-winning wine cellar with over 200 labels, and guests can have breakfast and lunch in its outdoor area with their pets.

. The cities of Campos do Jordao, Monteiro Lobato, Pindamonhangaba, Sao Bento do Sapucai, Santo Antonio do Pinhal, Sao Francisco Xavier and Tremembé decided to unite and create an integrated regional circuit. Named Mantiqueira Paulista Tourist Region, the route is being advised by Rose Dantas, who was a former executive director of the CJ Convention Bureau. This integration is unprecedented in terms of the destination promotion initiative and brings together seven cities from three different states: São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. Soon the international market of fairs will know this circuit.

. Latam Airlines Brasil has news. A stopover service was launched for customers in transit at Congonhas or Guarulhos airports in São Paulo. Unlike its competitors, Latam stopover is the only one to connect domestic and international flights at no additional cost. The facility, which aims to foster tourism in the state through the campaign "SP for All", will be available from December 20th.
