Cvent: Lisbon in the Top 10 European meeting destinations

Cvent has announced its annual Top Meeting Destinations and Top Meeting Hotels in Europe rankings for 2024 and Lisbon is among the best.

The annual rankings by Cvent, the events, meetings and hospitality technology company, recognise the most coveted meeting destinations and the best-performing MICE hotels, based on activity in its supplier network (Cvent Supplier Network).

In terms of European destinations, Lisbon is in fifth place, as it was last year. The Cvent Top 10 is led by London, United Kingdom, as in 2023, followed by: (2nd) Barcelona, Spain; (3rd) Madrid, Spain; (4th) Berlin, Germany; (5th) Lisbon, Portugal; (6th) Amsterdam, Netherlands; (7th) Paris, France; (8th) Rome, Italy; (9th) Frankfurt, Germany; and (10th) Munich, Germany.

‘We are delighted to once again lead Cvent's Top Meeting Destinations in Europe. London saw significant growth last year, with 30 new hotels. This year, we're on course to almost double that number. We're particularly excited about the upcoming transformation of ExCeL London,’ says Fiona Plumpton, director of London Convention Bureau Services, in a press release.

Cvent explains that Madrid climbed the podium after a strong year, in which the city hosted 20 conferences with more than a thousand participants, generating an economic impact of 88 million euros, and that Berlin also climbed two places, reflecting the priority it gives to the MICE industry, with the staging of ITB Berlin and the curation of events and programmes that support the needs of event organisers.

For Top Meeting Destinations, Cvent evaluated more than 12,500 cities around the world listed in the Cvent Supplier Network between January and December 2023. Evaluation criteria included the total number of nights booked, the number of requests for proposals sent to venues in the city and the total value of the proposals submitted, for example.
