The only American carrier to fly to Porto is adding a second daily flight for the 2024 summer peak season.
United Airlines has announced an increase in its service between Porto and New York/Newark, now offering two flights a day during this year's summer peak season.
In line with the existing seasonal service, the second daily flight will also be operated with Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
United is the only American carrier to serve Porto and "will be the first and only airline to offer direct flights between Faro and the US and operates more flights between Portugal and the US than any other American carrier," says a press release from the airline.
According to José Ferreira, United Airlines' Country Sales Manager for Portugal, this increase in service "will satisfy the strong demand of the summer season and offer customers in Portugal even more travel options and greater flexibility, with the possibility of connecting to other destinations in the Americas via the New York/Newark hub".
Nuno Costa, Commercial Aero Director at ANA |VINCI Airports, is also "very pleased with this reinforcement of the United Airlines operation from New York to Porto, which proves the growing importance of the North American market in the northern region and for Porto in particular". "In Portugal, the United States has been the fastest growing market in recent years and this reinforcement of the United Airlines operation demonstrates that there is potential for even more growth," he adds.
