What's your meeting planner personality?
Event planners worldwide are most commonly driven by a sense of adventure, according to new Cvent research conducted amongst 4,000 event professionals around the globe.
The findings are the result of the company’s Planner Personality questionnaire, which highlights six core personality drivers that are most common among event planners and offers respondents unique insight into how they can capitalize on their individual strengths and overcome any underlying weaknesses. Initial results show that the most common personality is adventure – where energy, adaptability, and an appetite for risk are highlighted as key strengths, while unpredictability, being plan-averse and feeling overwhelmed were discovered as key weaknesses.
“Event planners spend so much of their time gathering data about their events and attendees, but rarely spend time analyzing themselves. We preach the importance of data collection to make decisions and draw conclusions, but often overlook trying to understand what drives us as individuals,” said Patrick Smith, chief marketing officer at Cvent,. “We wanted to give event professionals an interactive way to discover what personality traits drive them and to help them understand how to maximize their personal strengths when planning and managing events. By releasing the findings of our research, we hope to encourage planners everywhere to take some time out of their busy days to understand their personal needs, and to support increased internal awareness. As 2019 approaches, there is no better time than now to explore what can help us be our best in the year ahead.”
Results are based on the participant’s responses to a set of nine event planner-specific questions and highlight the strengths and weaknesses attributed to six key core planner personality drivers:
- Contribution: The giver, with a focus on helping, giving to, and supporting others.
- Connection: The friend. Characterized by a strong feeling of closeness or union with someone or something.
- Significance: The star. These people feel unique, of value, important, special or needed, and are independent.
- Growth: The learner. Driven by a need for an expansion of capacity, capability or understanding.
- Certainty: The planner. Known for their reliability and organization skills, these people always have a vision and a plan.
- Variety: The idea factory. These individuals are okay with the unknown, like change and new stimuli, and seek adventure.
