Reducing the negative environmental effects of the event is one of Conventa’s goals. The project strives to be sustainable in the long run through an established system of constant improvements. The organisers pledge to execute the event sustainably by relying on the 5R model, i.e. Rethink/Reduce/Reuse/Recycle/Refuse.

The organisers have emphasised that the positive social effects created by the project will be evened out once the carbon footprint is reduced by 60%. Conventa is bound to become carbon-neutral by 2035 – one of the key strategic goals of Conventa's sustainable transformation. The European Green Deal heralds that Europe will become an environmentally neutral continent by 2050. Event organisers must also play their role in this by implementing concrete measures. One of Conventa’s most valuable objectives is to reduce the carbon footprint per participant. According to official data from the MeetGreen Association, an average event attendee creates 176,67 kilograms of carbon footprint per day. We endeavour to reduce the carbon footprint at Conventa by 60% per participant a day by 2035. In addition, Conventa will continue to spread awareness through its platforms regarding the necessity for green transformation. Not least, the event will strive to reduce the use of plastic by 90 per cent by 2030.

The head of Conventa’s sustainable development, Natalija Bah Čad, stressed: “If we do not balance the organisation of Conventa with the environment’s bearing capacity, as event organisers, we will be co-responsible for the repercussions. Hence, Conventa will continue to offer the option of attending online due to its new hybrid nature. Consequently, the event’s negative effects on the environment will be reduced. We Furthermore, we are implementing an array of other measures that will help preserve our planet. We deem it imperative to gradually reduce our carbon footprint based on measurable and transparent criteria.” The next edition will take place in February 2022.
