The association's executive director will accumulate functions and replace Rosa Costa as chairman of the board of directors.

Luís Capdeville Botelho is the new chairman of the board of directors of Visit Azores, maintaining his role as the association's executive director, so that he can “act much more actively, assertively and immediately for the board of directors in the day-to-day running of the association”, revealed the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, Berta Cabral, quoted by Lusa in a press release.

According to the official, “this is the right choice, because it guarantees continuity and stability, since Luís Capdeville Botelho has already been executive director of Visit Azores since 2020, is familiar with the trade, has the right experience and is well aware of the major challenges inherent in promoting tourism in the Azores”.

Luís Capdeville Botelho replaces Rosa Costa as chairman of the board of directors of Visit Azores, who, since 2023, had accumulated the functions of regional director of Tourism.

In a statement, the Regional Government of the Azores explained that the change of presidency of the association comes as part of “a new stage in the consolidation and development of the Azores tourism promotion agency, which will focus on combating seasonality, enhancing the identity of the nine islands and affirming the product”.

“Last year we began a new cycle at Visit Azores, with a statutory review and the reinstatement of the region as a founding member, which was seen by everyone as fundamental for the external promotion of the region and for strengthening the stability and credibility of this work,” said the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures.
