Three new TAP routes to both North and South America

TAP is flying from Lisbon to Maceió and Montreal and also from Ponta Delgada to Boston.

TAP will inaugurate, next year, three new routes to the Americas: Maceió and Montreal, from Lisbon, and Boston, from Ponta Delgada. The airline is once again expanding its network of transatlantic destinations, and within three years the United States already has the same number of routes as Brazil.

Maceió, in northeastern Brazil, is TAP's 11th destination in the country. This new route will feature three weekly frequencies, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Flights are scheduled to 5:15 pm, leaving Lisbon, arriving in Maceio at 9:15 pm. In addition, with the new A321LR aircrafts, the airline can also increase flight frequencies to the cities of Natal and Belém from three to five flights a week.

Between Lisbon and Montreal, Canada, TAP will have flights with six weekly frequencies, not just on Wednesdays. The departure from Lisbon is scheduled for 2:55 pm, arriving in the Canadian city at 5:40 pm.

The new route connecting Ponta Delgada to Boston reinforces TAP's growth in the North Atlantic, where it has increased from three to 11 routes. From 2020 on, Portugal will have two direct routes to Boston, from Lisbon and Ponta Delgada. The airline will also increase the number of flights (from four to five daily) between these two Portuguese cities.

“This is a historic moment in the company's path. With the inauguration of these new routes, TAP thus goes from three routes in 2015 to 11 destinations in North America, the same number as Brazil. This is another important step in the company's network diversification and expansion plan, which strengthens its exposure to new and less volatile markets,” says Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of TAP, in a press release.
