Europalco has obtained ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management, reinforcing its commitment to more environmentally friendly event solutions.

The ISO 20121 standard, established by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), is a global framework for improving sustainable event organisation practices and its main objective is to help organisations elevate sustainability throughout the event management process.

"Our approach to obtaining ISO 20121 certification involved a complete review and improvement of our sustainability policies," explains Rita Corredoura, Europalco's quality manager, in a press release, adding: "We have implemented measures to minimise our environmental footprint, promote social responsibility and optimise operational efficiency, all while maintaining the highest safety standards."

The certification granted to Europalco emphasises the company's focus on the sustainability of its operations and reflects the event solutions provider's commitment to a sustainable approach, brand elevation, legal compliance, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, the promotion of innovation and risk mitigation.

"This is a significant achievement for our company, as it highlights our dedication to sustainability in the events sector," says Rita Corredoura, who adds that the certification "is in line with our core values and reflects our ongoing efforts to prioritise sustainability in all facets of our operations."

"We want Europalco to be a benchmark in the events sector, empowering people and providing services with an unquestionable standard of sustainability. By investing rigorously in quality, safety and innovation, we aim to be an example of excellence in providing integrated solutions for events in an environmentally responsible way. In addition, our commitment extends to promoting solidarity and social support, valuing human capital and disseminating knowledge through strategic partnerships, thus reinforcing our position as a leader in sustainable event management," says Rita Corredoura.

Sustainability is "a journey to create a better future"

In addition to obtaining ISO 20121 certification, Europalco says it is actively involved in initiatives to reduce its environmental impact and benefit local communities, and that it aligns its practices with global sustainability objectives, identifying growth opportunities and minimising risks, as well as promoting innovation, resilience and a more sustainable future.

By reusing waste from events, such as stage structures, sets and textiles, transforming them into new products or donating them to institutions or individuals, Europalco promotes a circular economy. In addition, the company supports local social, educational and cultural initiatives, demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility: respect for human rights, ethics and transparency, environmental care, community participation, diversity and inclusion, and involvement in social causes.

"We believe that sustainability is not just a goal, but a journey to create a better future for all," emphasises Pedro Magalhães, CEO of Europalco, adding: "Through continuous innovation, collaboration and responsible business processes, Europalco strives to be an example of excellence in the events sector, driving positive change and leaving a lasting impact on society and the environment."
