Taking part again at this year's edition of Conventa, Planet Positive Event is a tool for measuring the sustainability of events.

Launched at Conventa last year, Planet Positive Event measures the sustainability of events by collecting data. The tool provides event organizers with a report in line with the European Union's ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards).

“It doesn't matter if it's a very small event, like a company team building, a four-day Conventa type event, a festival, a sporting event or any other type of event. We have the mathematics behind this tool to measure exactly how much carbon emissions the event produces,” says Aleksandra Petrovska, from Toleranca Marketing.

Planet Positive Event has nine forms for collecting data, “which are used by our subcontractors and suppliers”. In the case of Conventa's catering, for example, each of the catering services filled in the forms before the event: “How many meals are you preparing? How many meals use fair trade products? How many local seasonal products are used? Because all these products, all these little deviations have their own carbon footprint,” she explains.

The process of collecting this data initially caused some fear due to its complexity. “However, complexity is necessary based on these patterns if we want to get a real picture of our event. There are tools that do it on the surface, you click on a few things and that's it. This goes deeper,” says Aleksandra Petrovska.

Now, the process has been integrated. “I think it's getting much easier now and we have a lot more requests for partnerships and collaborations.”

Planet Positive Event is an “international tool” and is available for events outside Slovenia.
